Violet Sorrengail was supposed to live a quiet life among books — same, honestly — until she's thrown into a war college where dragon riders are made and the fragile ones don't survive the first year. Equal parts training-ground tension, slow-burn romance, and genuinely great dragon politics.
A few pacing wobbles in the middle keep it just shy of perfect, but the last hundred pages are a freefall. I finished it, stared at the ceiling, and ordered the sequel. That's the review, really.
